Why is Matcha good for you?

A lot of people drink Matcha tea because they think or have heard that it is good for them, but do they really know what is it that makes it so good?

The way that Matcha is refined enhances the concentration of EGCG. EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) is a polyphenol that is in Matcha, and other green teas, but much more in Matcha tea. It is an antioxidant, which helps with damage in cells, diseases and overall health of the body.

Matcha also helps by boosting the metabolism, works as a detox, has a lot of fiber and vitamins, and provides you with energy for the rest of the day. People like to say that Matcha “protects your heart” in many different ways!

Ways that I like to prepare my Matcha

I have to ways that I LOVE drinking Matcha. I think Matcha has a very strong flavor so I like to mix it up with other ingredients.

The first way is in a detox smoothie - I like to prepare a green smoothie (celery, cucumber, lime, apple, spinach, coconut water, coconut milk and add a tsp of Matcha). It is a very good way to incorporate it and not necessarily taste it as much.

The second way is as a Matcha Latte- For this I use a frother. I prepare the latte with oat milk, a splash of vanilla extract and 1 tsp of Matcha. Then I heat it up in the frother and drink it as a warm tea.

What Matcha do I like to use?

My favorite Matcha is from Thrive Market. It is the Lakanto Matcha Late, it is sugar free, dairy free, gluten free, and vegan. Let me know if you give it a shot!
